Sacred Journey

From his large repertoire of photographs, James Weeks offers a portrait series, Sacred Journey. These images were taken in his birthplace of St. Croix, US Virgin Islands, as well as Nigeria West Africa and the Bay Area. James became an award-winning photojournalist because of his signature image, Ishantee, which gave birth to his portraits of children and other portraits of people around the world. His images convey the warmth, strength, humility and beauty of his subjects. For James, photography, like spirituality, is about learning to see, feel and give voice to the sacred within. An initiated Ifa priest, James has studied Yoruba culture and philosophy for more than ten years.
